Auravia Medical is expanding its medical cannabis services worldwide, filling the gap for patients travelling to the UK who need access to cannabis on prescription.
Through the Auravia International Travel service, patients from overseas can arrange a virtual consultation with a specialist doctor ahead of their trip so that their prescription can be processed in time for their arrival. The process works the same as it would for a UK resident. After an initial consultation, the doctor will decide whether they feel it is appropriate to prescribe and if so, the prescription will be sent to the individuals’ hotel or temporary accommodation.
The large legal differences between countries and the risk of airport troubles means it is often not possible to carry cannabis medicines when travelling. Even when travelling from areas where medical cannabis is legal (such as some states in the USA), a patient may not be allowed to bring their medication. Sometimes if you are from a country which allows you to bring your medication, you may also be prohibited from bringing medication by flight stop-overs in countries with strict laws on cannabis, such as the UAE or Singapore, and aviation laws while in transit. Some airlines do not allow you to carry medical cannabis regardless of local laws.
Not being able to bring medicines leaves some being forced to use the illegal market for symptom relief, presenting them with risk and vulnerability. As medical cannabis becomes more widely available worldwide, there is an increasing need for visiting patients to be able to access medicines legally. To avoid taking medicine in or out of the UK, Auravia’s service allows patients to receive medications at the place they’re staying. This removes any potential of stressful interactions with the UK border force or customs officers.

Before you travel, sign up with Auravia International Travel. Fill out our simple form and upload your medical documentation, including documents confirming your diagnosis and what medications you have already taken or have tried to manage your symptoms. Please let our team know that you are travelling in from abroad.
To streamline the process, Auravia handles all payments digitally. Payment for the consultation is taken first, and then once medications have been prescribed this is paid for separately.
Schedule a virtual consultation with one of our specialist doctors in advance of your trip, so everything is lined up for you before you arrive at the airport. By the time you arrive, you will already be a UK medical cannabis patient.
Your prescription will be sent to our pharmacy for fulfilment, which will ensure your medicines are waiting for you at your chosen delivery address upon landing in the UK. This may be a friend or family member’s home, hotel, or B&B. You can also choose to have your medication shipped on the day of your arrival, ensuring your package turns up the next day at the location of your choice. Our courier service is DPD. You may want to give your accommodation a heads-up to collect your package if you’re not there, and to pass on the DPD code to accept the package. You should carry a paper or digital copy of your prescription whilst travelling in the UK, along with the dispensing label on the original packaging of your medications. It is helpful to keep personal ID on your person, to show that your name matches the name on the medication if needed.
