Each prescription is tailored to you by one of our specialist doctors, based on your symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals.
As a general principle (as with every medicine), our recommendation to patients is to always try and take the lowest effective dose of a product. For most of our patients, that means approximately 30g of flower, 30 ml oil, or 30g of cream per month. There will be differences based on severity and duration of symptoms and between conditions that are being managed, previously used medications, etc.
We do recognise that patients depending on their condition and on the symptoms or with more complex needs, may require dosages up to 60g of flower per month and potentially higher potency products. For patient who require more than that, our duty of care means that we would like to have a more in depth conversation with you and then we can tailor your requirements. Change of mode of administration, change of strain or a different combination are options to be explored too.
Your medical cannabis journey begins with a consultation with one of our experienced clinicians. Consultations are an essential part of your treatment, ensuring your prescription is safe, appropriate, and effective over time.
Your first appointment is a detailed medical assessment where your doctor reviews your health history, current symptoms, and previous treatments. If medical cannabis is suitable for you, your clinician will create a personalised treatment plan and issue your first medical cannabis prescription.
Around one month after your first prescription, you’ll have a follow-up consultation to review how you’re responding to the medication. Your clinician can adjust your prescription if needed to make sure your treatment is working well.
After your first follow-up, you’ll have check-ins every three months. These regular reviews help your doctor monitor progress, track symptom changes, and keep your treatment plan up to date.
If you ever feel you need extra support, you can request an additional consultation at any time for £35. This gives you access to your clinician whenever you need advice or a medication review.
